Surgery day for Jackson…

Today was an encouraging day even in the midst of what Jackson experienced.  As I type this update, he is sitting next to me with the usual smile on his face.  Coming home from China now five months ago, we knew perhaps a couple of surgeries were in his near future.  Maybe his heart, maybe his left eye, maybe a hernia repair.  The heart remains strong with no hint to this point a hole exists; his left eye is on its way to being healed without surgery; and the hernia, we’re not sure if it existed or where it existed.  At 11:30 a.m. this morning, Jackson was taken into surgery where the medical staff completed a block to the lower half of his body.  They performed three procedures to take care of problematic issues including what they thought was a hernia as diagnosed in China.  The end result is this was not a hernia but a sack of water which was removed.  We are still not sure everything the surgeon did except he took care of the problems.  He is a friend of our family and we certainly trust his judgment.  Jackson will be a little sore for the next couple of days and will be limited in his activity for the next week or so.  We are thankful for so many who are willing to pray for our family and especially our three [adopted] children, all who have special needs and ongoing conditions we continue to address.  Amazingly, even in the midst of where they have come from and their physical struggles, you look into their little faces and you see three precious children all who are so full of life.
